We’re Interlock Experts, a family-owned Ottawa interlock installation company that was established in 2009. For over 17 years, we’ve been providing outstanding service to Ottawa homeowners. By the time we’re done working together, you’ll feel like family.
Why Ottawa homeowners choose us
We dig 10-12 inches. Most installers dig 4.
Ottawa's frost line is 4 feet deep. A 4-inch base lifts the second winter. A 10-12 inch base stays put for 25+ years. That is the only reason our driveways still look straight a decade later.
Owner-led every site visit
Same family-owned crew runs every project from first site visit to final walkthrough. Headcount stays at 11 on purpose so the lead installer is on-site at least 80% of every install.
No subcontractors. Ever.
Our crew installs every paver, every joint, every base course. We hold the standard because we hold the equipment. Subcontracting interlock is how most jobs go wrong.

Signs your driveway needs attention
Sunken pavers
Low spots that pool water or trip toes mean the base has settled and needs lifting. See [interlock repair](/interlock-repair/).
Weeds in the joints
Aggressive weed growth means the polymeric sand has washed out and the joints are open. See [paver sealing](/paver-sealing/).
Faded colour
UV-bleached pavers look tired — a clean and seal restores the original tone. See [cleaning](/interlock-cleaning/).
Edge restraint failure
Pavers shifting at the perimeter means the restraint is broken and the field is migrating. See [interlock repair](/interlock-repair/).
Water pooling
Standing water after rain points to grading or base issues that will only get worse. See [drainage solutions](/drainage-solutions/).
Polymeric sand loss
Visible gaps between pavers let water reach the base and accelerate settling. See [polymeric sand](/polymeric-sand-installation/).
Common Ottawa interlock questions
How much does an interlock driveway cost in Ottawa?
Interlock driveways in Ottawa run $20–$50 per square foot depending on pavers and site conditions. Most Ottawa driveways land in the $25–$35 range. A 500 sq ft single-car driveway is around $12,500. Use our calculator for your specific project.
How long does an installation take?
Most driveways: 5–10 working days. Patios: 3–7 days. Walkways: 2–4 days. Repairs: 1–3 days. You will get a specific timeline in your written quote.
What pavers do you use?
Techo-Bloc, Permacon, and Unilock. All freeze-thaw rated for Ottawa winters. We do not install discount pavers that fail year two.
Do I need to be home?
For the on-site measurement: yes (45 minutes). For installation: no — most homeowners are not home most days. We coordinate access.
Are you insured?
Yes. $2M liability coverage and full WSIB clearance. We will email both certificates before any project starts.
How soon can you start?
We are typically booking 4–6 weeks out for spring and summer installs. Repair jobs we can usually slot in within 2 weeks.
Repair or full replacement — which do I need?
If your pavers are intact and the base just shifted, we lift and relay ($8–$20/sq ft). If pavers are cracked, faded, or the base is too far gone, full replacement starts at $25/sq ft.
Do you do small jobs?
Yes. Minimum project around $1,500 (small walkway or repair). No job is too small as long as it is interlock.
After your install — what to maintain
Annual sealing
Re-seal every 2–3 years to lock in colour and stop joint sand from washing out.
Joint sand top-up
Add polymeric sand whenever you see gaps — keeps weeds out and the field locked together.
Gentle cleaning
Mild soap and a soft-bristle brush. Skip the high-pressure tip — it blasts the sand right out.
No rock salt
Use calcium chloride or a paver-safe de-icer. Rock salt eats the paver surface and the sand.
Snow shovel choice
Plastic-edged shovels only — metal blades chip the paver edges and gouge the sealer.
